This book just might give you shivers!

Shiver by Maggie Steifvater
I hadn’t bought a hardcopy of a book in ages. It’s much easier to check out from the library or buy a cheaper ebook version. I can always delete and ebook if I don’t like it or return a book to the library. Plus, I have a small house currently, and my bookshelf is already overflowing. Nevertheless, I had money to blow, so I started looking at books. Shiver caught my eye instantly. Who doesn’t love werewolves? (Aside from passionate Twi-Hards who are Team Edward) I bought Shiver, and began reading it right away.
This book is in two switching point of views. The POVs are Grace, a girl who was once attacked by wolves and saved by one in the pack, who then developed an obsession of sort for the wolves. Particularly, her wolf, the one that saved her. The alternate point of view is that of Sam, the wolf. Yes, the one that saved her. This is no spoiler as it’s in the beginning of the novel, and even if it wasn’t laid out for you, it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out.
Things turn sour quickly in the novel, as somebody is attacked by the wolves and dies. No longer are the wolves a beautiful part of nature, but a threat to the community. Hunters and townspeople get together to do something about the attack; find justice for the death caused by the wolves.  Grace is afraid, because somewhere out in those woods are her wolf. She decides she must stop them. In doing so, she happens upon her wolf, but not in the form she expects. He has been shot, and as you might have guessed, is quite human. His golden eyes (Twilight much?) make her aware of who he really is.
One thing I disliked in the book was how quick Grace came to accept the existence of werewolves and yet didn’t question if anything else might exist. She was a rather boring character, to be honest. She sounded very dull yet her obsession with the wolves was interesting. Grace seemed empty, but perhaps that is the point, as she longs to be a wolf herself. I enjoyed that the werewolves of this story weren’t scary and the easy relationship between Sam and Grace. The story moved slow yet fast at the same time. Despite my negative comments, I give this book four out of five stars. Sam made up for Grace’s lack of character development, as he was a passionate and poetic soul. Sam was the deepest character in the novel having suffered at the hands of his parents, loving Grace deeply, and filled with passion.
The twists and turns of this novel will keep you reading, and you’ll definitely want to know the ending. And if you’re like me, you’ll be eager to read the second book in the series!
